Work rights & post-study options
Student residence permit holders may work up to 30 hours per week on average across the year. After graduation you can apply for a two-year permit to seek employment or launch a business, with study years counting partially towards permanent residency.

The main joint application window runs in early January for the autumn intake, and popular programmes fill immediately. Have your IELTS, transcripts and motivation letter ready by December — we advise starting preparation a full year ahead.
Are the Finnish tuition scholarships genuinely attainable?
Yes. Most universities grant 50% waivers widely to strong admitted applicants and many offer 100% early-bird or merit awards. Several Skystar students currently study in Finland paying half tuition or less.
How much bank balance does the residence permit require?
Migri expects at least €800 per month — roughly €9,600 for the first year — held in the student's own account, alongside paid tuition or a scholarship covering it. Transfers from sponsors should be arranged early so the funds season in your name.
What happens after I graduate in Finland?
You receive a two-year job-seeking residence permit, and Finland's technology sector actively recruits international graduates. Permanent residency becomes possible after four years of continuous residence, with study time counting partially.
