Malaysia is where value and comfort meet for Bangladeshi families: internationally accredited universities, tuition and living costs a fraction of Western levels, halal food everywhere, and Dhaka just a four-hour flight away. Many private universities award UK or Australian dual degrees, and our direct partnerships with INTI International University, SEGi University and the University of Cyberjaya mean faster offers and honest, first-hand programme advice.

Why Malaysia?

  • Total annual costs often below BDT 10โ€“12 lakh including living
  • UK and Australian dual-award degrees at Malaysian prices
  • Skystar's direct partnerships speed up offers and visas
  • Familiar food, climate and culture ease the transition
  • Kuala Lumpur is a safe, modern, English-friendly student city

Entry requirements

Undergraduate

  • HSC with GPA 2.5+ for most private universities; foundation routes for lower results
  • IELTS 5.5 overall for most programmes (6.0 for select degrees), or university English placement
  • Attested academic certificates and passport copies
  • EMGS medical screening and visa approval before travel

Postgraduate

  • Relevant bachelor's degree with CGPA 2.5โ€“3.0+ depending on university
  • IELTS 6.0 overall for most master's programmes
  • Statement of purpose and CV; references for research degrees
  • EMGS processing typically takes four to eight weeks

Work rights & post-study options

International students may work up to 20 hours per week, but only during semester breaks and holidays longer than seven days, in approved sectors. Families should budget on the basis that study in Malaysia is funded from home, with part-time earnings as a bonus rather than a plan.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Malaysian student visa (EMGS) process work?

After you accept an offer, the university applies for your Visa Approval Letter through EMGS, which includes a medical screening on arrival. The process typically takes four to eight weeks, and because Skystar works directly with partner universities, we track your EMGS status at every stage.

Are Malaysian degrees recognised internationally?

Yes โ€” Malaysian universities are accredited by MQA, and many private institutions additionally award dual degrees with UK or Australian partners, meaning your certificate carries a British or Australian university's name at a Malaysian price.

What is the real total cost per year in Malaysia?

For most of our partner programmes, tuition plus shared accommodation, food and transport comes to roughly BDT 8โ€“14 lakh per year depending on the university and city. It remains the most affordable full international experience we offer.

Can Malaysia be a stepping stone to other countries?

Many students complete a foundation or bachelor's in Malaysia and then transfer credits or progress to master's study in the UK, Australia or Canada. Dual-award degrees make that pathway especially smooth, and we plan it deliberately with families from day one.
